Quintuple Twins shooting for quintuplet of wins and black type

Media Release - Tuesday February 11

John and Karen Parsons are enjoying a stellar run with gavelhouse.com graduate Quintuple Twins.

The $7,250 buy in September last year recorded her fourth win in a row at Riccarton on Saturday and a tilt at the Gr.3 Valachi Downs South Island Thoroughbred Breeders Classic is on the horizon.

Quintuple TwinsIn just five months racing for her new connections she has earnt a pleasing $50,995 courtesy of one placing and four wins with Saturday’s win on the quick back up just seven days after her last win.

The daughter of Sebring was patiently ridden by Tina Comignaghi over Riccarton’s 1400m trip to settle early with cover. A gap then opened off the rail when turning into the home straight and with 400m left to go, Quintuple Twins dashed through a to win by a head.

“She’s a smart horse who we haven’t done much with, she is just a handy horse,” mused Karen Parsons.

“She has pulled up a box of birds and the race has taken nothing out of her, she tucked straight back into her feed bin.”

Originally a $120,000 yearling, Quintuple Twins is a full sister to the Group placed Oink with their dam Coogee Coozifa a three-quarter sister to Gr.1 Hong Kong Mile hero The Duke. The addition of black type to her progressive race record would be a welcome addition to bolster her residual value with Parsons looking to attempt this next month.

“Going forward we will see how she goes but we do have the Valachi Downs [Gr.3 South Island Thoroughbred Breeders Classic] in mind but at this stage we will look to run her again and go from there.”

Another successful gavelhouse.com graduate over the weekend was Bruno Magile who broke maiden ranks for owner-trainer Rochelle Lockett at Awapuni. The son of Jimmy Choux was purchased for just $2,100 and has since returned over $12,000 in prizemoney.

The latest gavelhouse.com thoroughbred auction is live online now with over 65 Lots on offer. Bidding is set to close, starting with Lot 1 from 7pm on Monday 17 February. If you need a hand get in touch with the team on +64 9 296 4436 or email info@gavelhouse.com.
