Classic First Season Gallery - Star Turn

Breednet - Friday February 7

Vinery Stud’s first season sire Star Turn was very well received at Magic Millions and with 27 listed for sale at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale we thought we’d better look them over.

Star Turn was a spring two-year-old winner and as a three-year-old claimed the scalp of Capitalist in the Gr3 San Domenico Stakes before beating the older sprinters at weight for age in the Gr2 Schillaci Stakes.

His placings include thirds in the Gr.1 Lightning Stakes, Gr.1 William Reid Stakes and  Gr.1 Newmarket Handicap, all against older horses and also third in the Gr.1 Coolmore Stud Stakes.

His eight yearlings sold at Magic Millions averaged $204,000, over nine times his service fee, with a top price of $550,000.

Buyers included the likes of Hawkes Racing (2), James Harron, Star Thoroughbreds and Kris Lees, which is a good indication of the types they were and being the second most represented first season sire at Classic, his stock are bound to be popular again.
