$700 Valetti breaks maiden for owner-trainer duo

Media Release - Sunday February 2

Owner-trainer duo Antony and Sarah Fuller’s $700 gavelhouse.com buy Valetti was quick to repay their faith when breaking his maiden at Matamata on Sunday.

Valetti breaks his maiden at MatamataJust four months after his purchase online from Westbury Stud, the son of Swiss Ace returned $6,250 with a gutsy performance over 1200m from a wide barrier.

Going into the race off the back of a confidence boosting trial win a fortnight earlier, Vinnie Colgan in partnered Valetti who jumped away smartly to lead the field throughout the race, holding on beat his 10 rivals with a short neck the margin.

“We are thrilled with him, he hung in there and it was just super,” offered Sarah Fuller.

Anthony Fuller was equally as thrilled with the result, “Heading into the race, we thought the ground would be a bit quick for what he would prefer,”

“He would like a bit of cut in the ground, he was changing legs a fair bit and is a laid back sort of character.”

“He has come out of the race well and ate all his dinner so going forward we will perhaps go up a grade once there’s a bit of cut in the ground.”

Fellow gavelhouse.com graduate Mr Intelligence was another good news story for the site over the weekend, finishing runner up in the Listed Dunedin Gold Cup on Saturday for Nikki and Barrie Blatch.

Backing up from a win a week earlier, the son of Niagara was a $4,750 buy from Curraghmore in March 2018 and has now won just shy of $56,000.

The latest gavelhouse.com auction is online now and set to close from 7pm tonight with 18 of the 33 Lots on the market as of Monday morning. Get in touch with the team on +64 9 296 4436 or email info@gavelhouse.com if you have any queries.
