Scales of Justice Heads Weekend of International Success for Inglis

With inspections for Inglis’ first yearling sale of the year – the Classic Sale – only a week away, Inglis graduates again came to the fore over the Australia Day long weekend winning six Stakes races in three countries.

Scales of Justice - image Grant CourtneyGrand campaigner Scales Of Justice (Not A Single Doubt) led the charge, leading in a First 4 of Inglis graduates in Friday night’s G2 Australia Stakes at Moonee Valley when he defeated Hey Doc, Embrace Me and Ringerdingding.

It was a seventh Stakes success for Boomer Bloodstock’s $180,000 Premier Yearling Sale purchase from Millford Thoroughbreds and took his career earnings to $2.3m.

“Not A Single Doubt is a very encouraging story for buyers looking at Inglis Classic yearlings by young sires, because it took him 708 days to leave his first Stakes winner and he’s now one of Australia’s most popular and successful stallions,’’ Arrowfield’s Bloodstock Manager Jon Freyer said.

“The very best things sometimes take a little longer – that’s why we’re happy to be conviction breeders who back the stallions we choose to stand.

“And don’t be fooled by Not A Single Doubt’s retirement: he’s right at the top of his game, with Scales Of Justice (pictured) and six other Stakes winners on the board in the first half of this season.’’

Arrowfield will offer a draft of 40 yearlings at next week’s Classic Sale and a further 63 at Easter.

Cradle Mountain (Listed Carrington Stakes), Morvada (Listed John Dillon Stakes) and Taikomochi (Listed Australia Day Cup) also won Australian Stakes races over the long weekend while New Zealand’s Kiwi Ida (G2 Westbury Classic) and Singapore star Bold Thruster (Listed Fortune Bowl) were successful internationally.

The victory by Bold Thruster – who was purchased for $82,000 out of Bucklee Farm’s 2017 Premier Yearling Sale draft by Thomas Loke, whose bloodstock is selected and managed by Peter Twomey of Wattle Bloodstock - was the eighth of his career and fourth at Stakes level from just 15 starts.

“We’re so proud of his achievements to date and it’s been fantastic to watch him develop into the regular Stakes performer in Singapore that he now is,’’ Bucklee Farm’s Leeanne Smith said.

“We’ve got a draft of 25 catalogued for Premier this year and I’m excited to show these yearlings off to everyone because they are such a high quality bunch.’’

Inglis graduates have dominated on the track in recent times, producing 40 individual G1 winners since 2018, more than double that of our nearest competitor.

Eight of those have come through the Classic Sale – Vow And Declare, Castelvecchio, In Her Time, Shadow Hero, Samadoubt, Extra Brut, Maid Of Heaven and Hellbent.

The Classic Sale is also responsible for 25 Australian Stakes winners for $100,000 or less since 2018.

Inspections for the 2020 Classic Yearling Sale begin at Riverside Stables next Tuesday, February 4.

The Sale begins at 10am Sunday February 9 and runs for three days.
