Turangga Farm Bred Gives Gollan 100 Winners

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday July 26
Turangga Farm bred Miss Arabella has given Tony Gollan his 100th Queensland winner and a chance to snatch the state trainers' premiership.

Gollan has a high opinion of the three year-old daughter of High Chaparral (IRE), who stormed home to win a maiden (1350m) at Ipswich on Wednesday.

He trails Toowoomba-based Ben Currie who has won 102-1/2 races in Queensland this season to lead the state premiership.

There are four meetings left but Gollan concedes Currie will be hard to catch.

"The way things have fallen I have only three runners at Doomben on Saturday and I think Ben has six," Gollan said.

"I have a few chances at Gatton on Friday and I might have a couple of runners at Beaudesert on Saturday and Caloundra on Sunday. But I think Ben will probably have runners at those tracks as well."

Gollan has already won the Brisbane metropolitan premiership by a big margin with Miss Arabella's win being his 77th of the season.

Miss Arabella as a yearlingMiss Arabella is bred for staying success as an older horse being by High Chaparral out of the Pentire mare Pentacity.

The nick between these two sires has achieved remarkable success and has produced 13 winenrs from 15 runners headed by Group I winners Shoot Out, Volatile Mix and stakes-winner Silvera.

"We bought Miss Arabella after she was passed in at the Sydney Easter Sales and then her owners decided to lease her out for her current campaign," Gollan said.

Bred and offered for sale by Turangga Farm, whose dispersal sale last Sunday in Scone generated over $4.1 million, Miss Arabella is the second winner for Pentacity, who won the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet.
