Fastnet Filly Impressive at Flemington

Tara Madgwick - Saturday January 18

Bought from the same Cressfield Inglis Easter draft in 2019 as super impressive Rosehill winner Cellsabeel, Fastnet Rock filly Personal stamped herself as a potential autumn star when she overcame difficulty to score at Flemington on Saturday.

Prepared out of Lindsay Park, Personal was second on debut at Geelong on January 2 behind another highly rated Fastnet Rock filly in Fresh and carried that good form into this tougher assignment.

Ridden by Craig Williams, Personal was held up behind runners when looking to improve over the final furlongs before eventually easing her way to the outside to make her run, albeit by that stage she found herself at the tail of the field.

When given full rein she hit the line hard to win the 1100m dash by half a length running away.

“She was in a world of pain with 300m to run and would have been a good thing beaten if she had not got out,” said co-trainer David Hayes.

“I see her probably more as a Sires’ (Sires’ Produce 1400m) type of filly rather than a sprinter, Miss Finland was that way. She might need to go fresh into the Blue Diamond straight off this win.”

She's a winner!

A $640,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Cressfield draft for Tom Magnier/ BBA Ireland, Personal runs in the Coolmore navy blue for Coolmore and partners, that include Adrian Niccol, who selected the filly.

Personal was a $640,000 Inglis Easter yearling from the Cressfield draftPersonal is a sibling to stakes-placed Trope, Selectify and Laser Flash being the sixth winner from six foals to race from stakes-winning Galileo (IRE) mare Personify.

A half-sister to Aussie bred Champion South African filly Laisserfaire from blue hen Procrastinate, Personify was bought by Keiran Moore Bloodstock on behalf of Cressfield for $2million at the 2008 Inglis Broodmare Sale.

Personify has not produced a foal since Personal and after missing last spring to Fastnet Rock was then covered by More Than Ready (USA).

Personal is bred on the highly successful Fastnet Rock x Galileo cross that has produced 17 stakes-winners, seven of them Group I winners. The nick runs at 23.9% stakes-winners to runners!
