China Horse Club’s White Wonder

China Horse Club have a lot of very good horses in Australia carrying their colours, but none as eye-catching as this winner at Kembla on Saturday.

Grand Bernini won on Saturday for China Horse ClubNow with Gwenda Markwell after starting his career in Victoria with Ciaron Maher and David Esuatce, pure white four year-old stallion Grand Bernini broke the ice for his new trainers with a stylish half length win over 1200 metres.

A three time winner previously in country Victorian races, Grand Bernini looks well capable of adding to his record now that he’s found some form.

A $510,000 NZB Premier purchase for China Horse Club / Ciaron Maher Bloodstock from the Windsor Park Stud draft, Grand Bernini is the best of three winners from pure white Zabeel mare The Opera House.

Interestingly, the three winners she has had – Grand Bernini (Shamexpress), Casta Diva (High Chaparral) and Utzon (Charm Spirit) are all her white foals, with her solid coloured foals yet to make an impression on the track.

The Opera House has no yearling for the sales of 2020.
