Timely Stakes Win for All Too Hard's All Too Royal

Mark Smith - Thursday December 26

Vinery Stud colour-bearer All Too Royal has a near-perfect first-up record and the son of All Too Hard had conditions to suit when coming off a 12-week break to earn a maiden stakes success in the Listed Christmas Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on Boxing Day.

Ridden by Jye McNeil for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, All Too Royal was caught three-wide the trip. Coming from midfield he was in a striking position on the turn and was only asked for a serious effort at the 200 metres and he came way for a three-quarter length win over Mystyko (Sakhee's Secret) with Crystal Dreamer (Stratum) a half-length away third.

It was his fourth win in five first-up attempts advancing his overall record to 8 wins, 2 seconds 1 third from 16 starts with earnings of $350,435.

"He travelled really easily and comfortably into the straight and gave me plenty when I asked for another effort,” McNeil said.

"I know he has a very good fresh record and hopefully he can go on with it throughout the preparation."

A $270,000 purchase by the Belmont Bloodstock Agency out of the Goldin Farms draft at the 2016 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, All Too Royal is the best of six winners from as many to race out of the Group 1 SAJC Robert Sangster Stakes heroine Bel Mer (Bel Esprit) who had been purchased by Goldin Farms for $850,000 at the Patinack Farm dispersal in 2014.All Too Royal has a half-brother by Written Tycoon heading to the Magic Millions

It has proved to be a timely win as Rushton Park will offer a Written Tycoon colt out of Bel Mer at the upcoming Magic Millions Yearling Sale at the Gold Coast.

Bel Mer has a 2yo colt by Akeed Mofeed (GB) who was purchased by  Laceby Lodge for $200,000 at the 2019 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling. He has been named Mystery Dancer and was sent to Brent Stanley.

Bel Mer foaled a colt by Merchant Navy on September 8.

All Too Royal becomes the 13th stakes-winner for Vinery Stud’s All Too Hard. The 4-time Group 1 winning half-brother to Black Caviar has six lots heading to the Gold Coast and 19 catalogued for the Inglis Classic.
