Hayes won the 2007 Memsie Stakes on his own with Miss Finland when the event carried Group II status but Hayes, his son Ben and nephew Tom Dabernig prepare the 2017 favourite Vega Magic.

Bookies have mixed opinions on Vega Magic's right price with the former WA galloper as short as $3.60 with CrownBet's $4.40 quote topping the market.

Caulfield specialist Black Heart Bart is as short as $4.80 at CrownBet but as long as $7 at Bet365 after his first-up third in the PB Lawrence Stakes while Hey Doc is trading at quotes ranging from $6 to $7.50.

Le Romain is also prominent in Memsie Stakes betting at prices ranging from $6 to $7 while another Sydney galloper Yankee Rose is trading at quotes from $6.50 to $9.
