Toronado Four Winners in Two Days!

Tara Madgwick - Thursday December 19

Fresh from siring a metropolitan winning double on Wednesday with Masked Crusader and Mrs Beckham, Toronado (IRE) was quick to follow up with another double at Warrnambool.

Elderflower as a yearlingThe Lindsey Smith trained fill Elderflower was the first to salute, making a winning debut as favourite over 1000m.

She led all the way and won by more than a length in a pleasing performance.

“It was a good result and we’ll keep placing her where she has a good chance,” said Lindsey Smith.

“I have a few more Toronado’s at home so hopefully they go as well. He seems to be a very nice sire.”

A $70,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Boomer Bloodstock/ Lindsey Smith from the Yarran Thoroughbreds draft, Elderflower is the third winner from Sixtyfour, a winning Exceed and Exce d daughter of Group II winner Ateates from the family of Group I winner Ruffles.

The  current yearling from Sixtyfour is a filly by Rich Enuff that will be offered at Inglis Premier as Lot 730 by Hallmark Thoroughbred Stud.

Winning the next race was three year-old gelding High Delta, who scored by nearly a length over 1400m at his second start for the powerful Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable.

High Delta was a $105,000 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale purchase from the Supreme Thoroughbreds draft for Darren Weir Racing / John Foote Bloodstock / Carbine Thoroughbreds.

High Delta is the first winner for Northern Aspect, a Northern Meteor mare from the family of Golden Slipper winner and sire Marauding.

A multiple Group I winning miler by High Chaparral, Swettenham Stud’s Toronado has certainly hit a purple patch this week.
