We Can’t Wait to See – Lots 600 - 700 MM 2020 – Nicks That Click

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday December 17

Our ‘Nicks that Click’ stories are some of the most popular on Breednet so we thought in the lead up to Magic Millions and before the majority of yearling images are uploaded we’d assess the pedigrees and see what jumps off the page as a horse we just can’t wait to see!

The following horses are selected with no consideration to vendor or type and strictly appeal from what is on the page.

Lot 609 Colt Fastnet Rock x Out Spoken Lady, by Galileo (IRE) – Attunga Stud as agent

Fastnet Rock has some super statistics over daughters of Galileo, so it only stands to reason we should look very hard at a quality first crop son of Fastnet Rock in Awesome Rock when put over a daughter of Galileo that has already produced a G3 winner in Lady Cosmology.

The cross has produced 54 winners from 74 runners and 17 stakes-winners highlighted by seven Group I winners with the stakes-winner to runner strike rate at 24.2%.

Lot 676 Filly Pierro x Redouteski, by Redoute’s Choice – Coolmore

Dam has done a great job with three foals to race all winners and a stakes-winner by Henrythevigator, not easy to do, so what she can do with Pierro should  be super interesting given his success with daughters of her sire Redoute’s Choice.

The direct cross has produced 27 winners from 36 foals including seven stakes-winners, three of which are G1 winners Levendi, Arcadia Queen and Regal Power at a 19.4% stakes-winner to runner strike rate.

Lot 678 Filly Pierro x Regatta Rebel, by Redoute’s Choice – Newgate Farm as agent

Bred the same way as the previous filly, this one is the first foal of a grand-daughter of champion filly Alinghi , who has been a disappointing producer.

That said, Regatta Rebel did show good ability early in her career and I was a huge Alinghi fan when she was racing so would love nothing better than to see one of her descendants step up to the mark, so maybe it will be this one.

These two yearlings are the only ones in the whole catalogue from daughters of Redoute’s Choice by Pierro, who has quietly taken over as the number one sire in Australia by earnings sliding past Rubick and Declaration of War (USA). Read about him here.
