We Can’t Wait to See – Lots 400 - 500 MM 2020 – Nicks That Click

Tara Madgwick - Sunday December 15

Our ‘Nicks that Click’ stories are some of the most popular on Breednet so we thought in the lead up to Magic Millions and before the majority of yearling images are uploaded we’d assess the pedigrees and see what jumps off the page as a horse we just can’t wait to see!

The following horses are selected with no consideration to vendor or type and strictly appeal from what is on the page.

Lot 405 Colt All Too Hard x Innishbeg, by Lonhro – Vinery Stud

Lonhro is emerging as a seriously good broodmare sire reflected in the ability of this mare to produce stakes-winners to Pluck and Big Brown, not easy to do!

This time she’s gone to All Too Hard, who has had four runners from Lonhro mares and all are winners headed by stakes-winner Curdled.

Lot 420 Colt I Am invincible x Jersey Lily, by Catbird – Baramul Stud

Given that I Am Invincible and Catbird are both Yarraman sires, it stands to reason the former would cover mares by the latter. The results so far are encouraging with eight winners from nine starters headed by brilliant Group I placed Group III winner Invincible Star.

Jersey Lily has done only a fair job so far at stud, but this mating, her first to I am Invincible, might work better for her.

Lot 433 Colt I Am Invincible x Kangarilla Joy, by Lonhro

First foal of a stunning mare that was the most expensive yearling by Lonhro at the time of her sale when fetching $840,000. She had good ability too from a limited number of starts so am very interested in this youngster.

I Am Invincible has 100% success with daughters of Lonhro producing five winners from five runners headed by stakes-winner Evalina.

Lot 444 Colt Not a Single Doubt x Kissed by the Sun, by Encosta de Lago – Milburn Creek

The statistics for Not a Single Doubt with daughters of Encosta de Lago are strong with 10.7 % stakes-winners to runners, but even more interesting with mares carrying Marscay, who is the sire of this colt’s grand-dam, he runs at 80% winners to runners and 13.6% stakes-winners to runners.

They are also strong with Vain, who is the sire of the third dam, with 10 stakes-winners bred that way including Group I winners Single Gaze and Miracles of Life at 8.8% stakes-winner to runner. So this colt has a lot of positive factors hopefully all working together!
