We Can’t Wait to See – Lots 300 - 400 MM 2020 – Nicks That Click

Tara Madgwick - Friday December 13

Our ‘Nicks that Click’ stories are some of the most popular on Breednet so we thought in the lead up to Magic Millions and before the majority of yearling images are uploaded we’d assess the pedigrees and see what jumps off the page as a horse we just can’t wait to see!

The following horses are selected with no consideration to vendor or type and strictly appeal from what is on the page.

Lot 302 Filly Zoustar x Fife, by Starcraft – Widden Stud

Zoustar has become a champion for the double Danehill cross and eight of his 13 stakes-winners are bred this way at 9.8% stakes-winners to runners which is slightly better than his overall stat of 7.7%.

Love the female family here as she’s the first foal of a winning daughter of a blue hen in Dane Belltar and has the Danehill double up back a bit at 4 x 4.

Lot 310 Filly Lonhro x Florabella, by Exceed and Excel – Sledmere Stud

Darley’s champion sires Lonhro and Exceed and Excel have achieved great things together, but their magic is particularly potent in this format with Lonhro over Exceed and Excel’s daughters.

This direct cross has produced 18 winners from 22 runners including five stakes-winners headed by Group I winner Bounding (the dam of Epsom Derby winner Anthony Van Dyck). That’s 81% winners to runners and 22% stakes-winners to runners and Lonhro has already produced a Group III winner from this family.

Lot 314 C Snitzel x Fontiton, by Turffontein – Newgate Farm

The aspect of this pedigree that interests us is grand-dam Personal Ensign, a fast stakes-winning daughter of a very good stallion in Rubiton, whose outcross blood has mixed well with Snitzel to provide his highest stakes-earner in multiple G1 winner Redzel.

The Snitzel x Rubiton nick has produced 11 winners from 13 starters and two stakes-winners at 15.3% stakes-winners to runners.

Lot 326 Filly So You Think x Fullazz, by Redoute’s Choice – Baramul Stud

She’s a full sister to a Group I winner in D’Argento so we know this mating has worked and there’s no reason to think it won’t again as So You Think over daughters of Redoute’s Choice has produced 19 winners from 25 starters.

Three of those winners are stakes-winners with Group I winner Inference and promising Fasika the other two with the strike rate of 12% stakes-winners to runners higher than So You think’s overall figure of 5%.

Lot 344 Filly I Am Invincible x Gold and Diamonds, by Fastnet Rock -  Yulong

I Am Invincible has yet to produce a stakes-winner from a mare carrying Fastnet Rock blood, but he’s got impressive stats with Zabeel, who is sire of the grand-dam of this blue-blooded filly who comes from the Diamond Lover branch of the Eight Carat family.

There had been 40 winners from 47 runners bred on this nick and seven stakes-winners sired by I Am Invincible from mares carrying Zabeel including his Group I stars Viddora and Invincibella, the nick running at 14.8% stakes-winners to runners.
