G1 Goldmine Brings Intelligence to Breeding

A respected pedigree analysis tool for thoroughbred industry professionals for the past 15 years, G1 Goldmine has been upgraded and enhanced under new Managing Director Matthew Ennis.

G1 Goldmine yearling reports offer valuable pedigree information with 2020 sales just around the corner“We have put a huge amount of resources and development into a product that has been rebuilt from the ground up, building on some of the great features like Stallion Match, Pedigree Search and our Impact Analysis,” said Matthew Ennis.

“These features have all been enhanced to maximise accuracy and efficiency with considerably upgraded technology running the algorithms as well as the incorporation of a new data feed from one of the largest data suppliers in the world.”

G1 Goldmine was created by Leo Tsataronis, who had a background of software engineering, and it was developed to offer subscribers a level of pedigree analysis which had not previously existed.

The basic premise of identifying winning genetic patterns in pedigrees and providing that information in a user friendly format remains at the core of the business, but has been updated and improved to take advantage of new technology.

“Coming from a background in Multimedia design I understand the importance of the user experience,” Ennis revealed.

“We set out to ensure G1Goldmine becomes the new benchmark in digital analytics within the thoroughbred industry through enlisting experts within their relative fields, including branding and communications professionals, quantitative analysts, and big-data developers.

“As well as enhancements within the user experience we have worked very hard over the past 12 months to add value to our already feature rich product.

“Users will soon we able to personalise their dashboard, allowing them to visualise as close to real time as possible, metrics that are relevant to them. Maybe their favourite sire, one they have shares in or a broodmare sire of one of their mares. They will have access to a growing number of stats from all major racing jurisdictions in the world with the list growing continuously.”

With yearling sale catalogues of 2020 at the forefront of most people’s thinking as we head towards the Christmas holiday, G1 Goldmine offers outstanding pedigree analysis on all lots representing yet another tool that bloodstock investors can utilise in their search for a champion.

“Our sales catalogues have also seen an important upgrade with the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale being the first,” Ennis said.

“Within our analysis report, every lot is broken down into four main categories.

“Firstly, an Aptitude graph shows at what age the pedigree has won at stakes level and over what distance. This makes is very easy to identify the genetic make-up of the yearling. There is no point looking at a pedigree of stayers if you’re in the market for a sprinter!

“The second aspect of the analysis is what we call an Impact Analysis. Using a complex algorithm, we are able to determine how successful a cross has been compared to how successful it should have been! For example, the Impact Analysis can tell us whether a sire over a damsire has in fact been a positive affinity (Gold) or a negative affinity (Red). This is only one example, and collective the algorithm calculates this across 20 major crosses within the pedigree to give you a snapshot.

“The last two categories come from our Stallion Match feature and show the pedigree with any inbreeding as well as a complete list of stakes winners with a similar pedigree! These reports only cost just over $1 per lot and offer great value!”

McEnnis Racing, a burgeoning syndication business run by Matthew Ennis and John McDonald, has already tasted success with horses such as Deploy, Tangled, Misteed and Hellbent and will be active throughout 2020 trying to identify some more great value acquisitions with help from G1 Goldmine profiles starting with Magic Millions.

“It pays to breed intelligently and try to replicate superior racehorses – which is our mantra,” Ennis concluded.
