The three year-old half-sister by Pierro to brilliant multiple Group II winning mare Mizzy opened her account in New Zealand on Wednesday with a commanding victory.

Combat Queen as a yearlingTrained by Jamie Richards for a Te Akau syndicate, Combat queen relished the step out to 1600m at her third start to bolt clear and win by nearly three lengths as favourite.

A $135,000 Inglis Easter purchase for David Ellis from the Segenhoe Stud draft, Combat Queen was bred by well-known Victorian breeder Robert Crabtree.

She is the second foal and second winner from stakes-winning Magnus mare Missy Cummings, whose first foal Mizzy has won over $1.4million in prizemoney.

Missy Cummings has a yearling colt by Capitalist and produced a filly this spring by Written Tycoon.
