Beat the Clock Heads Inglis Charge

Media Release - Sunday December 8

Outstanding Premier Yearling Sale graduate Beat The Clock claimed his third G1 success of the year in today’s Hong Kong Sprint, in a race where the first six horses over the line were Inglis graduates.

Beat the Clock - image Grant courtneyRidden patiently by Joao Moreira, Beat The Clock (Hinchinbrook x Flion Fenena) settled off the speed set by star Easter 3YO Aethero before timing his run to perfection to hit the front just metres from the finishing post.

In a remarkable feat, he beat fellow Inglis graduates Hot King Prawn (2nd), Aethero (3rd), Mr Stunning (4th), Full Of Beauty (5th) and Wishful Thinker (6th).

The first six over the line came through a wide range of Inglis sales including Premier, Easter, Classic, Great Southern and the Australian Weanling Sale.

Today’s was a third career G1 victory for Beat The Clock in Hong Kong this year, following wins in the Centenary Sprint Cup in January and Chairman’s Sprint Prize in April.

Beat The Clock (pictured) is one of 40 individual Inglis-offered G1 winners since the start of 2018, more than double our nearest competitor.

He is also the 12th G1-winning Inglis graduate since August 1st of this year, a phenomenal 400% more than our nearest competitor.

“Inglis-offered graduates continue to shine on racetracks all around the world which is a tremendous compliment to the breeders and vendors who support Inglis and ensure that we are offering quality stock at all of our sales, year in, year out,’’ Inglis’ General Manager of Bloodstock and Marketing Sebastian Hutch said.

“With the 2020 Classic catalogue already available and the Premier catalogue due for release later this week and the Easter catalogue only six weeks away from finalisation, buyers need only look at the statistics to understand where they are most likely to find their next G1 winner.’’

Beat The Clock is a $70,000 Premier Yearling Sale purchase for Kelly Van Dyk’s Prima Park, from Yarraman Park Stud, who offered him on behalf of his breeder Jilly Henderson.

Yarraman’s Harry Mitchell said: “He was always a beautiful young horse and he continues to display the ability we always saw in him in his younger days.

“He just keeps turning up doesn’t he. Three G1 wins in a year is a remarkable achievement and what a finish it was there today.

“He’s showing no signs of slowing down so hopefully there’s more big wins in store for him moving forward.’’

Beat The Clock was one of three Inglis graduates to win at today’s big HKIR meeting, the only Australian auction house to sell a winner on the program.

Since 2018, Inglis sales have provided the winners of more than 440 races in Hong Kong, more than any other auction house.

Meanwhile yesterday in Perth, Beautiful Mind (So You Think) claimed a valuable first Stakes success when winning the Listed Jungle Dawn Classic at Ascot.

Out of a G1 winner in Small Minds, Beautiful Mind is now an extremely valuable race mare and future breeding prospect for her connections.

Saturday’s win was the fourth from just nine career starts for the $250,000 Premier Yearling Sale purchase of Boomer Bloodstock and trainer Lindsey Smith, where she was offered by her breeder Goldin Farms.
