Metro Double for Wandjina

It’s been a good day at the office for Newgate Farm’s Wandjina, who posted a quinella in the opening race at the twilight meeting at Randwick on Friday and then added another winner at Moonee Valley in the evening.

Nishka as a yearlingThe Ron Quinton trained filly Nishka surged to the line to win the 1400 metre maiden by a long neck over another Wandjina in Indigenous.

A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Aston Bloodstock, Nishka has a win and a placing from just four starts and can progress form here.

She is a half-sister to stakes-winner Gingerbread Man and is the sicth winner from good producer Quaffle.

Stakes-placed twice last season at two, talented Wandjina filly Grand Scholar was a brilliant winner at Moonee Valley on Friday night showing the promise of better wins to come.

The Tony and Calvin McEvoy trained filly made it three wins in succession when blazing away from her rivals to win the Benchmark 70 event by six lengths.

Grand Scholar has now won over $112,000 in prizemoney with three wins and two placings from seven starts.

A $120,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Newgate Farm draft for Sun Bloodstock, Grand Scholar is a half-sister to Group II placed Sort After from the speedy Group III winning More Than Ready (USA) stakes-winner Patronyme.
