Belong To Me Still Going Strong

Mark Smith - Wednesday December 4

Fans of the seven-season Widden Stud shuttler Belong To Me (USA) will be pleased to learn that the rising 31-year-old son of Danzig is hale and hearty at Lane’s End Farm, Kentucky.

Lane’s End sent out a tweet saying that Belong To Me (USA) shares the honour of being the farm’s oldest resident with the great AP Indy.

A descendant of the famed matriarch La Troienne, Belong To Me (USA) never won above Grade III level although he was clearly talented with seven wins, three seconds, and two thirds in 16 startsThe hulking frame of Belong To Me at Widden in 2004 -image Mark Smith

It did not take long to prove he would be a successful stallion. By the time he was pensioned in 2014 after 19 seasons, he had 11 winners at the highest level with His North American champions, Forever Together, the winner four Grade I stakes, including the 2008 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, and was voted top turf mare of that year, while another filly, Jersey Girl won the Mother Goose Stakes, Test Stakes and Acorn Stakes.

While he never had huge crops in the southern hemisphere, Belong To Me (USA) left 13 stakes-winners and 10 of those were Graded stakes-winners.

His best was the crowd-pleasing All Silent who came with his patented booming finish to win the Group 1 VRC Emirates Stakes and Group 1 VRC Patinack Farm Classic.Damien Oliver brings All Silent back to scale after winner the Canterbury Stakes at Rosehill - image Mark Smith

He had another Group 1 winner in the MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes hero Bon Hoffa whose son Bon Aurum equalled the feat when winning the 2016 MRC Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes before embarking on his own stud career.

Belong To Me did not just get slick sprinters. His daughter Bulla Borghese won the 2002 VRC Oaks and is the dam of the Group II Tatt's NSW Furious Stakes winner Bound For Earth.

Another Group 1 winner for Belong To Me was Proprietor who won the 2006 AJC The Galaxy while the hugely popular mare Belong To Many won the Group II AJC Sapphire Stakes and is the dam of the dual Group III winner Native Soldier.

Another daughter of Belong To Me (USA), the Group III Hawkesbury Cup winner Beauty Watch, is the dam of the Group III ATC JRA Plate winner Top Of My List.
