Tara Madgwick - Sunday November 24

If you have a mare by Redoute’s Choice and she’s still not in foal you probably should read this story!

Regal Power wins the G1 Railway Stakes - Western Racepix TwitterA barnstorming winner of the $1million Group I WATC Railway Stakes at Ascot on Saturday, four year-old Pierro gelding Regal Power was born on November 5 having been conceived on a late November service.

He is the latest example of a powerful ‘nick that clicks’ between Golden Slipper winner Pierro and daughters of Redoute’s Choice.

Regal Power is the third Group I winner for Pierro bred from a daughter of Redoute’s Choice joining his close relation Arcadia Queen and Levendi, while Hong Kong Derby winner Furore is also bred this way.

In total, the nick has produced 27 winners from 36 runners, seven of those winners being stakes-winners, so the stats read 75% winners to runners and 19% stakes-winners to runners.

$340,000 Pierro colt from Rose of PaniaAt the NZB Ready to Run Sale last week, Pierro featured with a top class colt bred this way from Rose of Pania that made $340,000 when snapped up by David Ellis for a stallion syndicate.

A stunning individual, he was also a successful pinhook, having been bought from the Baramul Stud draft for $145,000 at Magic Millions.

With yearling catalogues currently going online for all major sales there will no doubt be some quick trawling through the Pierro drafts to see what other youngsters are bred on the magic cross.
