$325,000 and $330,000 2YO's Highlight Strong Ready to Run Sale for Per Incanto

Media Release - Thursday November 21

Cambridge Bloodstock agent Garry Carvell has had plenty of success with progeny of Per Incanto he has acquired from Karaka, and he went back to the same well on Thursday.

He purchased two sons by the Little Avondale Stud stallion for Hong Kong-based clients on the second day of New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready To Run Sale of 2YOs.

$330,000 Per Incanto colt from DreamingHe went to $325,000 to secure lot 340, the gelding from Danasinga mare Demerara for Hong Kong trainer Peter Ho, while he purchased lot 352, the colt out of Zabeel mare Dreaming, for $330,000 under his Hiwi Lodge banner.

The pair will spend their immediate future in Cambridge, although their future racing careers lie in Asia.

“They will go back to the farm in Cambridge and have three or four weeks off and then they will go to Lauren Brennan, Ben Foote, or Finbarr Leahy - they are our three trainers,” Carvell said.

“Lauren normally gets the ones that are going to race a bit. We will just trial them up and see how they go and then they will hopefully go to Hong Kong.”

Carvell has supported Per Incanto since his early days and he is hoping his latest acquisitions can furnish into promising athletes.

“I bought the first one out of here when nobody even knew who Per Incanto was,” he said. “He turned out to be Baba Mama who went to Class 2 in Hong Kong, he is a good horse.

“They are going well up there at the moment and we have had a lot of luck with them.”

Carvell was particularly pleased with acquiring the Per Incanto colt out of Dreaming and he attracted plenty of attention from Hong Kong buyers.

“He’s a nice horse and he is out of a good Hong Kong family,” Carvell said. “His second dam has left a couple of nice horses in Hong Kong.

“Hong Kong were underbidders. They have got a good market up there for them (Per Incanto’s) at the moment.”

Per Incanto averaged in excess of $130,000 for his 12 lots sold. – NZ Racing Desk
