20th Winner for American Pharoah

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 28

With his first Australian bred offspring set to be offered at local yearling sales in 2020, Coolmore’s Triple Crown hero American Pharoah (USA) has done everything right so far with his first Northern Hemisphere runners, delivering his 20th winner this week at Churchill Downs.

American Pharoah has sired 20 first crop winners.Promising filly Emily’s Oasis ran away with an easy four and a half length victory in the opening race at Churchill Downs.

Trained by Australian born Ian Wilkes and owned by Lothenbach Stables, it was the fourth start for the filly who had placed twice before this win and now has $82,162 in earnings.

The filly was sold to Lothenbach Stables for $325,000 from the consignment of her co-breeder Runnymede Farm at last year’s Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Select Yearling Sale. Runnymede bred the filly in partnership with Peter Callahan from the Speightstown mare Margate Gardens, a full sister to multiple graded stakes winner Bridgetown and stakes winners Carnacks Choice and Clement Rock.

Emily’s Oasis is the 20th winner for American Pharoah, who is the leading first crop North American based sire with four stakes winners and nine stakes horses overall.

Currently in Australia, American Pharoah stands at a fee of $66,000.
