Second crop sires are making their presence felt in a powerful way this spring.

Brazen Beau had a stakes double on SaturdayLast Saturday produced more impressive results for our current second crop sires with a stakes double for Brazen Beau (Ideas Man, Sartorial Splendor) and a new stakes-winner for Charm Spirit (Fascino), while Shooting to Win sired Kubrick to win the inaugural $1million Bondi Stakes with Dissident siring runner-up Pancho and Brazen Beau getting third placed Colada.

Puissance de Lune (IRE) sired Moonlight Maid to finish second in the Group II MVRC Moonee Valley Vase, his second stakes horse of the week after Southern Moon was second in the Listed Geelong Classic last Wednesday.

After siring Yes Yes Yes to win the $14million The everest last weekend, Rubick was not be outdone either with Ruuca winning at Moonee Valley on Friday night and his classy three year-old Condo’s Express finishing second in the Group III MVRC Australia Stakes, a race that also saw Deep Field get in on the act with his son Three Beans finishing third.

Interestingly, not one of the Top 10 second crop sires is a direct Danehill line sire.
