Cox Plate Day Stakes Double for Brazen Beau

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 26

Darley young gun Brazen Beau sired exciting two year-old colt Ideas Man to win the $500,000 Inglis Banner at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day (read about him here) and then made it a stakes double when his talented three year-old Sartorial Splendor scored a dominant victory in the Group III MVRC Australia Stakes (1200m).

A debut winner back in April, the John Sadler trained Sartorial Splendor had been consistent since then albeit without winning and soared to new heights here with a powerful all the way win.

He led for Jamie Kah and kept up a good gallop to the line to win by nearly two lengths taking his overall record to two wins and three placings from six starts with prizemoney in excess of $245,000.

Sartorial Splendor as a yearling"That was really impressive," Kah said.

"He's a really talented horse.

"He's just got a mind of his own. He's very keen and wants to do it all a bit too much early. But if he learns to settle, he's going to be a really nice horse.

A $130,000 Inglis Premier purchase for his trainer from the Blue Gum Farm draft, Sartorial Splendor is bred on the same cross as Inglis Banner winner Ideas Man, both colts produced from daughters of Rubiton.

Bred and sold by Blue Gum Farm, Sartorial Splendor is a half-brother to Group II winner Fontiton from stakes-winner Personal Ensign, who has a yearling filly by Manhattan Rain and a colt foal to follow also by the same sire.

Sartorial Splendor is the fifth stakes-winner for Brazen Beau, who stands at Darley Victoria at a fee of $48,500.
