Premier Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan's day got off to a sunny start on the Gold Coast when promising mare Of The Day made it two-in-a-row.

Tony Gollan was all smiles after Of The Day won at the Gold Coast

The four-year-old was a $210,000 Magic Millions purchase and is a sister to Stakes winner Most Important who is in Melbourne for a Spring campaign.

Most Important failed in his first Melbourne run last week when last in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, beaten almost 14 lengths.

However Of The Day ($3.20 fav) did the family proud on the Gold Coast when she sat back in the field and produced a blistering run in the straight to overhaul the field in the Benchmark80 Handicap (1200m).

She beat Final Zero ($3.80) by 2½ lengths with another 2½ lengths to Magnus Cor ($17) in third place.

"She has developed a nasty habit of missing the kick earlier in her career but she appears to have mastered it now," Gollan said.

"She's a full sister to Most Important so I hope (owner/breeders) Graham and Linda Huddy keep sending me these nice horses."

Of The Day has now won four from 11 starts and taken her prizemoney over the $100,000 mark.
