Two Colts of Interest on Day 3 at Tattersalls

Mark Smith - Wednesday October 9

Leading consigner Newsells Park Stud struck gold on Day 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale with a 1,000,000 guineas son of Dubawi and will be hoping for a similar result when they offer a powerfully built Galileo colt out of the top-class Redoute's Choice mare Melito on day 3.

Trained by Gerald Ryan, Melito started in 16 Group 1 races, winning two of them the T.J. Smith Stakes and the Winter Stakes and placed in seven others on the way to accumulating almost $2m million in prizemoney.

A $600,000 Magic Millions yearling, Melito was purchased by Tom Magnier at the 2012 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale for $1,650,000.

The three-quarter sister to Arrowfield Stud's popular young stallion Pariah, was in foal to champion sire Encosta de Lago. She subsequently foaled a colt that was sold to Katsumi Yoshida for $400,000 at the 2014 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling sale

Named Campbell Junior he is a 5-time winner and has placed three times at Group II and Group III level.

If Newsells Park had a big result with their Dubawi colt on day 1, Hazelwood Bloodstock hit the mother lode when they sold Sun Stud's session topping Dubawi colt for 3,600,000 guineas.

Hazelwood will offer a Kingman colt out of Fairway Thoroughbreds' Group III Blue Diamond Prelude and Listed Blue Diamond Preview winner One Last Dance on day 3.

The daughter of Encosta de Lago had a tragic start to her broodmare career in Australia, with her first foal dying after birth and missing for the next four years before her export in 2016.

One Last Dance is a daughter of Danehill's Group III Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes winner One World, a sister to Langoustine from the family of Storm Cat and Royal Academy (USA).
