Nicks that Click – Champion Kiwi Sires Combine

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 30
The dream of any stud is that two of their champion sires can establish a nick to take the farm forward to new heights and for Waikato Stud that dream is a reality.

The Group II MRC Thousand Guineas Prelude on Sunday was won in brilliant fashion by progressive filly Acting, a homebred for Waikato Stud sired by their champion sire Savabeel from a daughter of another of their champion sires in Pins. Read about her here.

The Savabeel x Pins nick has proven wildly successful delivering a dozen stakes-winners headed by the Group I winners Brambles and Savvy Coup, those 12 stakes-winners coming from just 106 runners to deliver 11.3% stakes-winners to runners.

The list of stakes-winners also includes Karaka Million winner Probabeel, who looms as another potential Group I winner this season following her slashing second in the Group II ATC Tea Rose Stakes to Funstar.

Acting and Probabeel also have another of Waikato Stud's champion sires in Centaine in their pedigree providing another injection of class and speed.

Probabeel will chase Group I success this Saturday when she contests the Group I ATC Flight Stakes.
