Regally Bred Fastnet Rock Son to Stand at Allandale

Media Release - Monday September 16

Such confidence does Allandale Park have in Carry On Rocking that they are excited to announce that the unraced but regally bred bay will be making his stud debut at the Hobbys Yards farm this spring.

Fastnet Rock is the sire of Carry on RockingA horse always held in high esteem, the son of Fastnet Rock and the outstanding More Than Ready mare Carry On Cutie sadly did not make it to the track due to an nongenetic bone condition, disappointing for all involved.

But his lack of exposure to the track cannot detract from Carry On Rocking's quality and Allandale's Clare Todd has such faith in the young horse that his first supporters will be offered a great value fee of just $2750.

"The first 20 mare owners can take advantage of this early adopter fee," Todd said, keen to see those who might not normally be breeders getting involved.

"Say there is a syndicate of ten friends whose mare is ending her racing career and her owners are not sure what to do with her. Why not give her a chance to be a mum for such a small layout each? $275 is not much to spend for the opportunity to breed and race a horse by such a well bred stallion."

This early discount of discount of almost 30% should appeal to those owners with an emotional attachment to their mares, those not so focussed on selling but who simply want to race their much loved mare's progeny!

"Due to his impeccable breeding and conformation Carry On Rocking should be of significant appeal to this sort of breeder," Todd said.

Describing the BOBS eligible Carry On Rocking as "a great physical specimen with a beautiful temperament," Todd is hoping he can continue the great record that his breeders Bylong Park have had not only as overall breeders of high class horses, but also as breeders of highly talented horses by Fastnet Rock.

Such as the Group One winners Mosheen (sold at 2010 Inglis Easter, winner of over $2.7 million with eight wins including the Australian Guineas, the VRC Oaks, the Randwick Guineas and the Vinery Stud Stakes) and Driefontein (sold at the 2011 Magic Millions, winner of over $2.3 million with eight victories including the Robert Sangster Stakes and the Magic Millions).

Two of Fastnet Rock's best, both carrying the Bylong Park brand.

Twice crowned Australian Champion Sire, the Oakleigh Plate and Lightning Stakes winning Fastnet Rock is one of the mighty Danehill's most successful sire sons with progeny earnings in excess of $178 million; his 147 stakes winners including the multiple Gr.1 winners Atlantic Jewel, Mosheen, Shoals, Sea Siren, Merchant Navy and Fascinating Rock.

Fastnet Rock, who has stood for up to $275,000 - at 18 still commanding a fee of $165,000 - is already making a name for himself as a sire of sires with his nine of his sons siring stakes winners, five of them represented by Gr.1 winners.

Fastnet Rock has maintained impressive statistics throughout his career, his winners-to-runners strike rate a high 70.3% whilst his stakes winner ratio is an impressive 8.7%.

Champion sire More Than ReadyAnd his statistics with More Than Ready mares makes for even better reading - 19 winners from 24 runners (79.1%) including three stakes winners (12.5%) including the Gr.1 galloper Atlante.

One of the most influential shuttlers of recent times, the Gr.1 winning More Than Ready - sire of 195 stakes winners - is now proving a powerful force as a broodmare sire with his daughters already producing 86 stakes winners including the Gr.1 winners Miracles Of Life, Rebel Dane, Delectation, Atlante, Luna Rossa and Dandy Del Barrio.

Carry On Rocking is not out of just any More Than Ready mare either, he is out of one of that great stallion's best daughters, the Gr.1 Champagne Stakes and Gr.3 Sweet Embrace Stakes winner Carry On Cutie who has been doing a fine job at stud with her four to race all being winners.

Included in that tally is the lightly raced but fast My Amelia (who has gone on to produce another Champagne Stakes winner in The Mission), the local metropolitan winner Betrayal and the talented Hong Kong based Raging Storm, a five times Sha Tin winner trained by John Size.

A $420,000 graduate of the Inglis Easter Yearling Sale, Raging Storm was an eye-catching type but Carry On Rocking is, says Johnston, even more impressive.

"He was rated a better type by Inglis and by respected bloodstock agents," he said, again wondering what might have been had the impressive colt made it to the track.

But now he looks forward to seeing what his progeny can achieve and he is excited to be teaming up with Allandale Park to offer Carry On Rocking's services at a fee of $3850 with a live foal guarantee.
