So You Think it Was a Good Weekend

Tara Madgwick - Monday September 16
So You Think had a fruitful weekend with a new stakes-winner in Just Thinkin' and two horses that just missed in Group II races in Fasika and Miss Siska, while at Sha Tin on Sunday his progressive four year-old Buddies stamped himself as a bright prospect going forward which is good news for his half-brother headed to Inglis Ready2Race.

Buddies - image HKJCRidden by Zac Purton and trained by John Moore, Buddies carried 60.5kg and started a short priced favourite in the Class 3 event over 1650 metres. Despite stumbling at the start, he overcame that difficulty to power clear and win by more than a length taking his overall record to four wins from nine starts.

Buddies gave champion trainer John Moore his first winner of the new season.

"All of us have got off the mark – Size, Lor, myself, we're all off the mark today! It's good," Moore said. "A lot of mine had breaks, a few went to Conghua and had nice breaks in the paddock – they've come back a bit above themselves in condition but I think that did them the world of good.

"We had a great season last season, a lot of horses got right up to their marks so we're looking to the newcomers in the stable to hopefully give us another 55- 65 (wins) season."

A $320,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for George Moore Bloodstock, Buddies is the first winner from Group III placed Anabaa (USA) mare Gladwell.

Blake Ryan Racing will offer the two year-old half-brother to Buddies by Hallowed Crown at the Inglis Ready2Race Sale as Lot 66.

So You Think has made a strong start to the season with three stakes-winners on the board already and stands at Coolmore at a fee of $38,500 this spring.
