Outstanding producer does it again

Breednet - Thursday August 24
The 12th foal of a superb producer, Street Cry filly Leather'n'lace looks like bringing something to her family too after a stylish first-up win at Warrnambool on Thursday.

Street CryThe Darren Weir trained three-year-old had previously had the one start when third at Sandown before spelling and starting a short priced favourite for her next assignment never looked like being beaten, winning by over three lengths in what looked a classy display for the maiden grade.

Leather'n'lace is the 12th foal of Hard Rider, a mare by Maroof who has been a wonderful producer from a plethora of suitors, most of which don't really rate as a who's who of the breeding world.

The 12 she has produced have been to 11 different stallions and an interesting line up they are starting with Kings Best followed by Hemingway, Encosta de Lago, Delago Brom, Elvstroem, God's Own (twice), Artie Schiller, Street Sense, Wanted, Super Saver and Street Cry.

Some nice ones in there but some stinkers too yet she has so far produced three stakeswinners - Utah Saints (God's Own), Big Chill (Artie Schiller) and Hard Stride (Street Sense), with another, Rough Justice (Wanted) being stakes placed.

There are four more winners among them too, including today's.

The pairing with Street Cry stands as something of a beacon and judging by the performance of Leather'n'lace today, he's brought something to the table.
