Legends Ready to Fire

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday September 10
The Group III ATC Concorde Stakes might have been a mini-Everest last Saturday, but many would think the real horse to beat was at the Randwick trials this morning and while he was spectacular, his stablemate in the same ownership gave promise of good things to come this season.

Classique Legend looks ready to take on The Everest Fleet-footed grey Classique Legend took another step in his build-up to the $13million The Everest in six weeks time with a powerful barrier trial win over 1000 metres.

Given a soft trial when second to Sunlight late last month, the son of Not a Single Doubt was asked to do more this time by his trainer Les Bridge with Kerrin McEvoy allowing him to find the line.

He surged clear of the Godolphin duo Home of the Brace and Soothing to win by more than two lengths in 58.49 seconds.

The top lot at the 2017 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale where he was snapped up from the Tyreel Stud draft for $400,000 by Carmel Size on behalf of Hong Kong based owner Bon Ho, Classique Legend has had just four starts for three wins and a third.

His last start win in the Group II ATC Arrrowfield Sprint at The Championships encouraged connections to seek a slot in The Everest and his entire preparation is geared towards winning the richest sprint in the world, despite his lack of experience compared to his many of peers.

Best to keep in mind his trainer Les Bridge is one of few who have won both a Golden Slipper and a Melbourne Cup, so he will have him perfect on the day.

All Time Legend as a yearlingClassique Legend might be the stable star at present but Zoustar three year-old All Time Legend looked to be well above average at his first public outing.

The talented gelding was ridden quietly by Kerrin McEvoy after jumping from a wide gate and covered ground throughout before powering to the line. He coasted past his rivals to win by more than a length with ears pricked.

For a first trial there was a lot to like!

A $300,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Woodside Park draft for Carmel Size, All Time Legend looks like another likely winning 'Legend' for his owner.

He is a full brother to smart metro winner Star Fall from stakes-winning Kendargent mare Snow Belle (Fr)
