Four City Winners for Pierro

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday September 4
Golden Slipper winning sire Pierro has been churning out the winners this season, but even by his standards four metropolitan winners on Wednesday was a great achievement with promising three-year-old The Lifeline a highlight.

Pierro sired four city winners on Wednesday! The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable often send a promising three year-old to Melbourne at the start of spring to work through the grades and their lightly raced gelding The Lifeline gave notice of better wins to come with a bold front running win over 1300 metres.

A winner at Cranbourne at his first run back from a break in early August, he was then fourth in the Listed MVRC McKenzie Stakes before scoring this determined win that will have him on track for better races.

Retained to race by his breeder after passing in at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale shy of his $200,000 reserve, The Lifeline was foaled and raised at Coolmore and is the fifth winner from five to race from stakes-placed Elusive Quality (USA) mare Princess Quality, who comes from the family of Group I winner and sire Holy Roman Emperor

Also winning on Wednesday for Pierro at Sandown was in form five year-old mare Pierrocity, who made it back to back wins at the track, while in Sydney on the Kensington track at Randwick, the champion son of Lonhro struck with Terwilliker and Rock, who was a short priced favourite and has now won three of seven starts.

Pierro has had eight winners in seven days and stands this spring at Coolmore at a fee of $88,000.
