Exciting New Stakes-Winner for Dundeel

Tara Madgwick - Saturday August 31
Arrowfield Stud's Dundeel has a lot of promising three year-olds to run for him this spring and we saw one of them at Caulfield on Saturday with talented colt Super Seth kicking off his campaign with a stylish victory in the Group III MRC HDF McNeil Stakes over 1200 metres.

Prepared by Anthony Freedman, Super Seth won his first two starts in March and April before disappointing as favourite when finishing third in the Listed VRC ANZAC Day Stakes over 1400 metres.

He led on that occasion and faded, but may well have been looking for the paddock and returned in top order on Saturday.

"He'll probably go to Flemington in two weeks time and have a run up the straight and from there to the Guineas Prelude (1400m)," said Anthony Freedman.

"After that run we can assess if he goes on to the Caulfield Guineas or comes back to the sprint trips."

A $280,000 Inglis Easter Book II purchase for Dean Hawthorne Bloodstock from the Arrowfield draft, Super Seth runs for Pinecliff Racing and partners and has won three of four starts earning just shy of $200,000.

Bred by Arrowfield and Planette Thoroughbred, Super Seth is a half-brother to smart stakes-winner Wild Planet and is the third winner from Salutations, a placed Redoute's Choice daughter of Group II winning sprinter Toast of the Coast.

Arrowfield sold a full sister to Super Seth at the Magic Millions this year for $70,000 and Salutations is back in foal again to Dundeel.

Super Seth is the ninth stakes-winner for former Champion 3YO Dundeel, who is fully booked this spring at Arrowfield at a fee of $66,000.
