Racing Victoria stewards charged Carey with misconduct or engaging in improper conduct after alleging he struck Trent Pennuto with his right hand after a confrontation on May 15.

Stewards allege Carey grabbed the front of Pennuto's clothing while leading a horse before striking the trainer in the face.

Carey will appear before the RAD Board on Thursday week.

Pennuto appeared before the RAD Board himself on Wednesday where he received a nine-month ban after he was caught stomach tubing a horse at a meeting at Moe in May.
