Stellar First Season, G1 Speed and Value Puts Grandview Stallions in Demand

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 28

The Queensland breeding industry has never been as competitive as it is right now and worth noting on a national level the fact both the first season sires' categories in Australia (winners and earnings) where taken out by stallions standing in the state.

Another Qld stallion Whittington who stands at Grandview Stud also excelled in his first season at stud. In finishing 5th by winners nationally Whittington proved to be exceptional value for money.

His progeny showed early precociousness and developed as the season went on. He has hit the ground running in the new season and sits at the pointy end of the leader boards for 2nd Season sires and also for 3-year-olds.

Stampe has proven to be a real money spinner and he will contest the top-quality races in the summer, while Whittington has also proved to be a commercial stallion with his progeny selling up to $180,000 through the sales in 2019.

WhittingtonHe will be joined again this season by Group 1 winner Under the Louvre who was an exceptional racehorse on the track. His closing sectionals where astonishing and in winning the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap he defeated no less than 8 Group 1 individual winners.

From the outstanding Pivotal sire line he has been met with great support and has produced outstanding foals which was the catalyst for serving 30% more mares in Year 2 than in Year 1.

He also has a very similar profile to Queensland's leading stallion Spirit of Boom. They had very similar race patterns, both won races as 2-year-olds and both trained on to secure their Group 1 victories as older horses.

Both stallions stand this year at Grandview Stud season at $6,600 inc.GST which represents a great opportunity for both the commercial and breed to race breeders.
