$160,000 Pierro Mare Tops Inglis Digital Sale

Media Release - Thursday August 15

A three-quarter-sister to G1 winner Arcadia Queen has topped the first bi-monthly Online Sale for Inglis Digital, selling for $160,000 to Graham and Linda Huddy of Peachester Lodge.

Arcadia AngelConsigned by Sledmere Stud, on behalf of owners Rifa Mustang, unraced 3YO filly Arcadia Angel (Pierro) was one of two purchases for the Queensland-based owner-breeders in the August (Early) Online catalogue.

"I was actually looking for a couple of mares to send to Preferment, who we raced and now stands at Brighthill Farm in New Zealand," Linda Huddy said.

"But I came across Arcadia Angel and thought it's a lovely family to tap into, it really was too good of an opportunity to miss especially with Arcadia Queen's Spring Carnival potential."

A daughter of stakes winning mare Arcadia Rose, Arcadia Angel is also closely related to G2 Western Australian Derby winner Arcadia Dream (Domesday) and G3 winner Arcadia Prince (Pierro).

"I am looking at sending her to Exceed and Excel this season, as I really like the mating with the cross being a proven one."

The Huddy's also went to $20,000 to secure the Danny O'Brien trained mareBe Instant, a 5yo daughter of O'Reilly and stakes performed Splitsecond (Pins).

"We'll send her to New Zealand to support Preferment.

"The Zabeel over O'Reilly mares is also a cross that has worked and we're excited to see what his first crop does this season too," Huddy said.

Sledmere Stud's Catriona Murphy said the reach of the Online Sale was "amazing" and made it easier for vendors who don't have to incur travelling costs.

"To sell a quality horse like Arcadia Angel for Rifa Mustang and to get this type of result with minimal fuss is just fantastic for Sledmere Stud," Murphy said.

"We thought she was good value at that figure, we could literally sell her from the comfort of our lounge room while also reaching a vast buying bench.
