Winning Start to Season for Whittington

Tara Madgwick - Monday August 5
Queensland has a terrific line up of young stallions coming through and one of those is Grandview Stud's Whittington, who had a metro winner on Saturday in Stampe and a new maiden winner at Mackay on Monday in Idle Jack.

WhittingtonThe Chris Munce trained gelding Stampe posted his third win from nine starts when saluting at Doomben on Saturday over 1350 metres and has now won just shy of $140,000 in prizemoney.

Progressive youngster Idle Jack made it two winners in three days for Whittington when casting off maiden status at Mackay on Monday with a two and a half length win over 1300 metres.

A brilliant stakes-winning two year-old by Tale of the Cat (USA), Whittington has delivered eight first crop winners so far and a further six place-getters indicating there are many more winners to come.

Whittington covered his biggest book so far last spring of 107 mares and is well priced this year at $6,600.
