Swettenham Stud's Deep Impact Filly Opens Stakes Account

Mark Smith - Sunday August 4

The familiar colours of Adam Sangster's Swettenham Stud were to the fore at Newmarket on Saturday when Love So Deep (JPN), a 3yo daughter of the recently departed legend Deep Impact, opened her stakes account in the Listed Chalice Stakes.

Ridden by John Egan for trainer Jane Chapple-Hyam, Love So Deep stayed on resolutely to defeat Bella Vita by two lengths bringing an end to that daughter of Aussies Rules' 4-time winning streak.

Fifth in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot two starts ago, Love So Deep came into the race off the back of a fourth in the Listed Aphrodite Fillies' Stakes over the same course and distance on July 19.

"She deserved that as she has been knocking on the door and has been running in good races. The other day I thought she would be third, but the eventual winner came in at the two-pole, Chapple-Hyam told Sporting Life.

"She puts on weight and doesn't lose it, so who knows, there might be another race for her. She got the trip well today.

"We will probably have to look at a Group Three or Group Two now."

It was the third win in 12 starts for Love So Deep (IPN) who cost just a fraction of her sires stud fee when purchased by Swettenham Stud Australia for 50,000 guineas at the 2018 Tattersalls December Sales.

Her dam Soinlovewithyou (Sadler's Wells) hasn't set the house on fire as a producer however she is a three-quarter-sister to the Epsom Derby hero Ruler Of The World (Galileo), the Group II Adelaide Cup winner Annus Mirabilis (Montjeu) and the Group III winner and Irish Derby third Norway (Galileo) and a half-sister to Danehill's 5-time Group 1 winning son Duke Of Marmalade.

Love So Deep becomes the 136th stakes-winner for Deep Impact who will have four Group 1 winning sons Saxon Warrior, Mikki Isle (image Mark Smith ), Real Steel and Tosen Stardom covering in Australia in the forthcoming season.
