One to Watch – Wyong

Tara Madgwick - Friday August 2
Reported by stewards for bucking twice at the start and racing greenly at his only previous outings to date, this well named blue-blood finally put his mind on the job at Wyong on Friday.

Redoute's Choice is the sire of Bold and WildFour year-old Redoute’s Choice gelding Bold and Wild has given his trainer Bjorn Baker more than his share of worry over his race day antics, but the battle to get the best from this horse looks like being well worthwhile.

Bold and Wild behaved himself when the gates opened and he settled just behind the leaders for Tim Clark before powering away down the running to win the 1350 metre maiden by more than six lengths in a dazzling display.

Now that the penny has dropped for this John Singleton homebred, he can easily be winning more races and does look as though longer trips will be well within his range.

A full brother to Group III winner Long Time Ago, Bold and Wild is the third winner from Singleton’s Australian Oaks winner Once Were Wild, who has a yearling colt by Not a Single Doubt and is due to foal to Redoute’s Choice.
