Interstate targets likely for unbeaten colt after Sandown win

Sandown could become a pivot point for Mutamayel after the colt remained unbeaten in Wednesday's Dream Thoroughbreds Handicap (1500m).

The Lindsay Park training trio had another win with three-year-old Mutamayel at Sandown.

Mutamayel was a strong debut winner on the Pakenham Synthetic track on August 8 but switched back to turf racing and handled skipping a couple of grades in his latest performances.

The colt outgunned the last-start Flemington winner Sheer Madness to score by three-quarters of a length while Sky Punch worked home from last to finish third 1 ½ lengths from the runner-up.

Co-trainer Ben Hayes said the son of Snitzel was a good chance to have his next start interstate.

"We're actually thinking of sending him to Adelaide and having a look at the Adelaide Guineas and we also maybe have a race in Sydney as well," who trains Mutamayel in partnership with his father David and cousin Tom Dabernig, said.

"We're thinking but we're not sure yet."

Mutamayel was caught wide early but jockey Regan Bayliss let him slide forward before allowing Sheer Madness to lead him in the middle stakes.'

Mutamayel stayed on the inside rail before he outsprinted Sheer Madness in the straight.

"It's a good effort to go from a maiden to a Benchmark 70 and not many horses do it so it's good to see him do that," Hayes said.

"When you're wide like that and caught three-wide, I'm glad he pushed forward.

"It was good to see him fight back and hit the line."

Earlier, Written Choice made the perfect start to his career when leading all the way to win the Chandler McLeod Plate (1000m).
