No Nay Never Yearlings Popular at Arqana

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday August 22
Scat Daddy's brilliant Group I winning son No Nay Never (USA) is settling into Coolmore for his second season in Australia and was making news in Europe this week with a strong showing for his first Northern Hemisphere offspring at the Arqana Deauville Yearling Sale in France.

No Nay NeverThe first No Nay Never to light up the boards at Deauville came on Saturday evening when Kerri Radcliffe went to €480,000 for the first foal of Fastnet Rock mare Jessica Rocks, offered from the Motteraye Consignment.

Legendary trainer Andre Fabre is set to condition the No Nay Never colt on behalf of Phoenix Thoroughbreds.

"He's by a son of Scat Daddy and we love him," said Radcliffe. "He's a good colt, very well-balanced, and I'm very happy to have been able to buy him for Phoenix Thoroughbreds. He'll go to our new French trainer Andre Fabre."

No Nay Never impressed again on Sunday with another stunning colt that sold for€400,000.

Peter Doyle, acting for a partnership including the Mayfair Speculators, picked up the colt was from Group III Prix de Psyche winner Chiaba, a daughter of Peintre Celebre.

"We were underbidder on the No Nay Never colt that sold on Saturday – we love the stallion and think that he's going to be really good," said Doyle. "This was a very nice individual and we'll have to make our minds up where he's going to go."

No Nay Never won the Group I Prix Morny at Deauville as a two year-old so was always going to be a good fit for this sale and had four yearlings sell in the two Arqana select sessions for an average of €268,750.

No Nay Never covered 101 mares last spring in Australia and stands again this year at $11,000.
