Vinery quartet primed for Tatt’s Tiara

Media Release - Friday June 21
This Saturday's Tattersall's Tiara is the final Group 1 of the season and Vinery has four acceptors ready for a battle-royale over 1400m at Eagle Farm.

Baccarat Baby and Sweet Deal are daughters of Vinery sire Casino Prince and will be up against a deep field of talented fillies and mares if they make the field from the emergency list.

Baccarat Baby is coming off seconds in the Fred Best Classic Gr.3 and Queensland Guineas Gr.2 and trainer David Vandyke reports she is going terrific at home. "We think she deserves to be there but time will tell if she makes it. Otherwise, we will target the Sunshine Coast Guineas next week."

"It's our major meeting of the year and it will be a nice consolation at home," Vandyke said. "But she will probably be at a short quote."

A homebred for Peter Harris and Matthew Irwin, Baccarat Baby is at $15 for the Tatts Tiara.

Sweet Deal has been nominated for a support race earlier in the day by trainer John Thompson as a precaution if she isn't elevated into the final field.

Bred and sold by Phillipa Cooper for $67,500 at the 2016 Inglis Classic Sale, she earned minor black-type at two in the G3 Widden Stakes and RL Inglis Classic at Randwick and was an eye-catching fifth first-up in the Dane Ripper Stakes Gr.2 a fortnight ago.

Winter Bride

Pip raced her dam Dorothy Evelyn (Royal Academy) to a Canterbury win with Gary Portelli and the mare delivered another foal by Casino Prince last September.

Vinery is also represented by its 2015 Gold Coast Magic Millions graduate Eckstein. She sold for $165,000 and is one of five runners attempting to give trainer Chris Waller a record 18th Group 1 victory this season. He is currently equal with T J Smith on 17.

Eckstein (I Am Invincible) is also going into the Tatt's Tiara second-up following a break. She was runner-up in the Moreton Stakes Gr.3 a month ago and Waller kept her ticking over with a trial win at Gold Coast on June 11.

Vinery partner Steve McCann has a vested interest in Winter Bride (Not A Single Doubt) ahead of the winter carnival grand-final. He bought her dam Amberino (Perugino) for $150,000 at 2016 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale and a year later the Tatt's Tiara candidate kick-started her career winning a Nowra maiden for Segenhoe Thoroughbreds.

Amberino has a yearling filly by Press Statement, a filly foal by Star Turn and McCann bred her back to All Too Hard last year.

Those three stallions make up a vibrant roster at Vinery Stud in 2019: All Too Hard ($27,500), Star Turn ($22,000), Headwater ($16,500), Press Statement ($16,500), Pluck ($6,600) & Casino Prince ($6,600) whose fees all include GST.
