G2 Coventry Stakes Winner for No Nay Never

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 19
Scat Daddy's brilliant sire son No Nay Never (USA) is headed back to Coolmore Australia this spring and featured overnight at Royal Ascot where his exciting colt Arizona won the Group II Coventry Stakes as favourite.

Arizona - Royal Ascot TwitterTrained by Aidan O'Brien and ridden by Ryan Moore, Arizona was an eight length winner at The Curragh at his second start and ran right up to that brilliant performance to win the six furlong sprint by half a length over a big field of 17 runners.

"I was delighted with Arizona. Ryan gave him a great ride and he's a lovely horse who will stay further," said Aidan O'Brien.

"We were a little bit worried the ground is starting to slow up, but he's a horse to look forward to. He's only a baby and was green the first time he ran. He progressed from that, but won easily next time so didn't learn a lot.

"Today, he's learned. He was slow away and a bit lost in the race, but came home well. He has loads of speed, but we always thought he'd have no problems getting seven furlongs; he's a fine big horse for next year."

Purchased for 260,000 euros at the Arqana Yearling Sale last year, Arizona is the first winner for Lady Ederle, a half-sister by English Channel to Group IIII wonner Fathayer and to the dam of dual Group I winner and Champion 2YO Colt Dabirsim.

No Nay NeverLady Ederle is from Rainbow Quest's Group I Italian Oaks winner Bright Generation so there is a nice mix of speed and stamina in his pedigree.

Arizona is the 11th stakes-winner for No Nay Never, whose first Australian progeny will be two year-olds next season.

The Group I winning son of Scat Daddy stands at Coolmore Australia this spring at a fee of $44,000 following on from a busy season at Coolmore headquarters in Ireland where he has been priced at 100,000 euros.
