First Winner for Free Eagle

Tara Madgwick - Friday June 14
High Chaparral's Group I winning son Free Eagle (IRE) shuttled for three seasons to Cornerstone Stud and produced his first winner in Ireland overnight with a stylish Leopardstown success for Justifier.

Free EagleTrained by Ger Lyons, two year-old colt Justifer coasted clear for an easy length win in the seven furlong maiden and is held in high regard by his trainer.

"Justifier is a lovely horse and there should be huge improvement going forward with him because I have been quite tender with my two-year-olds this season," Lyons said.

A 60,000 guinea purchase from the Goffs Orby Sale, Justifier is the third winner from Pale Orchid, a half-sister by Invincible Spirit to Group I winner Kew Gardens from Group I winner Chelsea Rose.

Free Eagle had 19 yearlings sell in Australia this year for up to $250,000 and has three weanlings to be offered at the Inglis Great Southern Weanling Sale by Cornerstone Stud. Click here to see them.
