Cox Plate Goal for Danceteria

Mark Smith - Tuesday June 11

The Cox Plate is on the agenda for Australian Bloodstock's 4-year-old Redoute's Choice gelding Danceteria who powered home from the tail of the field under Jamie Spencer to win Sunday's Group III La Coupe.

Redoute's Choice is the sire of French G3 winner DanceteriaDanceteria defeated Godolphin's favoured Soleil Marin (Kendargent) by a length with another son of Redoute's Choice Spotify a further three-quarters of a lengths back in third.

Trained by David Menuisier, Danceteria came under notice last year when he won four consecutive handicaps in England.

He opened his current campaign with a win in the Listed Prix Jacques Laffitte at Maisons-Laffitte (FR) before a third in the Group III Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown.

Though he now carries the olours of Australian Bloodstock his previous owner Clive Washbourn has retained a share.

"I'm over the moon," Menuisier reported on the Australian Bloodstock website.

"It didn't look like they went that quick early on, which was a bit of a worry, but he has a terrific turn of foot and he's a very good horse.

"I think he needed the run at Sandown last time. It was his first run for six weeks and it was also his first run since part of him was sold, so I wasn't sure where we're going with him until the deal went through.

"Today he showed his true colours in a competitive race and I think he's a Group One horse.

"He's in the Eclipse at Sandown and he's also in Group Ones in Germany and America. All options are open at the moment.

"Having won a Group Three, it would defy logic not to step up to the next level – either in a Group Two or a Group One – and we all know Group Twos are not easy to find.

"The plan is to go to Australia at the end of the year and the main idea is to go for the Cox Plate, so we'll work backwards from that.

"It's very exciting for everyone."

A half brother to four winners including the stakes-winner Blossomtime (Shamardal), Danceteria is out of the dual Listed stakes-winner Bal De La Rose (Cadeaux Genereux) who is a half-sister to French Derby and Guineas winner and top-class stallion Lope De Vega as well as stakes winners Lord Of The Land and Lady Frankel who also placed in the Group 1 Prix de l'Opera.
