Entries Open for Karaka 2020

Media Release - Monday June 3

Entries for New Zealand Bloodstock's 2020National Yearling Sales Series are now open with the Sale taking place next summer at the Karaka Sales Centre from 26 January until 2 February.

With an established reputation for producing world-class thoroughbreds, graduates of the National Yearling Sales Series have claimed 24 Group One races this season alone. From 1200 metres to 2400 metres, the alumni have exhibited their diverse power to dominate fields in New Zealand, Australia, and Hong Kong.

Feedback received from vendors and buyers post Karaka 2019 regarding the format will see some subtle changes made for next year's edition. Book One will start at the earlier time on the Sunday and conclude at the end of Tuesday, rather than the Wednesday. As a result, the number of yearlings catalogued in Book One will be slightly less.

Book Two will begin a day earlier on the Wednesday, and at slightly later time in the day to allow extra time for buyers to inspect the yearlings. That sale will run through to Friday. Book Three is scheduled to take place on Sunday 2 February, however depending on the number of entries received, we haven't ruled out the possibility of selling all yearlings by the end of Friday 31 January.

We are in a unique situation this year with, what we believe, is the strongest line up of first season stallions New Zealand has seen in many years. NZB sees this as a fantastic opportunity to help promote Karaka 2020 and we will be introducing some innovative marketing initiatives in the coming weeks and months.
