Glen Eden Stud Delighted with Giant’s Steps

Tara Madgwick - Thursday May 30
Sonia O'Gorman of Glen Eden Stud could not be happier with her stunning Giant's Causeway stallion Giant's Steps (Arg), the Champion 3YO Turf Colt in Chile for 2012/2013.

Giant's StepsA top class racehorse in South America, Giant's Steps won six of 15 starts highlighted by two Group I victories and was successful from 1200 to 2400 metres.

"He is an outstanding, strong type and his bloodlines cross very well with many lines available in Australia," said Sonia O'Gorman.

"All of his wins were on turf and he displayed great versatility to win over sprint distances and also the classic trip of 2400metres."

From the same proven sire producing female family that gave us outstanding sire Hussonet (Chi) and in New Zealand based Group I sire Ekraar (USA), Giant's Steps is the only dual Group I winner by the late champion sire Giant's Causeway to stand in Australia and has a pedigree well suited to Danehill / Danzig line mares.

"The STORM BIRD/DANZIG and DANEHILL cross has produced 417 SWs, 60 Gr1 Winners!" points out O'Gorman.

Giant's Steps is priced at $5,500"A phenomenal sire of sires, GIANT'S CAUSEWAY, has established a proven sire line dynasty, his sire sons leaving 215 Black Type Winners (Including 27 Gr1, 34 Gr2 & 50 Gr3 to date)."

The Giant's Causeway sireline has had particular impact in Australia in recent years through his grand-son Lope de Vega (Fr), who shuttled here for four seasons and has left Group I sprinters Santa Ana Lane and Vega Magic as well as current season Group winners Spanish Reef, Spanish Whisper and Archedemus.

Giant's Steps stands his second season at stud at a fee of $5,500.

He stands alongside Rebel Dane ($6,600) and Mint Lane ($3,300).
