One of the less exciting mares offered at the Magic Millions Broodmare Sale on Tuesday was imported Mastercraftsman mare Regine (IRE), whose two year-old half-brother by Kodiac, a colt called Majestic Sands, won impressively on debut overnight in the UK.

Regine wins at Randwick - image Bradley PhotograhpyTrained by Richard Fahey, Majestic Sands made 90,000 guineas at the Craven Breeze Up Sale and opened his career with a comfortable three-quarter length win over five furlongs at Leicester as favourite with connections indicating he will now head to Royal Ascot next month.

A half-brother to not only Regine, Majestic Sands is also a half-brother to Group I winner Trip to Paris, who was second in the Caulfield Cup and fourth in the Melbourne Cup.

A metropolitan winner of four races, Regine was raced by a syndicate of Champion Thoroughbreds owners and bought at the sale on Tuesday for $40,000 by one of her part-owners in Dalanna Bloodstock.

If Majestic Sands does win at Royal Ascot, a lot of broodmare buyers may wish they had looked a lot closer at Regine.
