Almandin has not raced since his Flemington triumph in Flemington last year but the Macedon Lodge outfit has entered the import for the 2040m Open Handicap.

The son of Monsun is one of four Lloyd Williams-owned runners in the $120,000 race along with the last-start Flemington winner Aloft, Granddukeoftuscany and the resuming Hans Holbein.

Aloft is also a nomination for the 2500m Open Handicap as are stablemates Bondi Beach, Kilimanjaro and Granddukeoftuscany.

Saturday's Moonee Valley meeting features the Listed McKenzie Stakes (1200m) for three-year-olds and the Listed Carlyon Stakes (1000m) for the open-age sprinters.

Group I-placed sprinters Jungle Edge and Heatherly head the 18 Carlyon Stakes nominations with ratings of 108 and 107 respectively ahead of Missrock, the runner-up in the Group I Goodwood, on 105.

The nominations for the McKenzie Stakes were extended until 10am on Tuesday after the $120,000 contest attracted 15 entries.

VRC Sires' Produce Stakes winner Sirconi and first-up winner Azazel top the nominations with 79 ratings while Godolphin has nominated last-start Adelaide stakes winner Bandipur for the race.
