Snitzel Son Bondi Headed to the West

Media Release - Monday May 20

Group 1 performed two-year-old colt Bondi (Snitzel – Bondi Blonde) has been purchased by leading WA breeders Ted and Troy van Heemst to stand at their Lynward Park Stud Bullsbrook in WA.

Bondi is a stunning son of champion sire SnitzelThe high class two-year-old was purchased at the 2017 Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale for $400,000 and was raced by Newgate Farm, China Horse Club, Horse Racing Ventures, Winstar Farm and his breeder Strawberry Hill Stud and trained by Peter and Paul Snowden.

In seven starts as a juvenile he won, was beaten less than a length when second in the Listed Breeders Plate 1000m in a time of 56.82 to Performer, third in the Group III Black Opal Stakes 1200m to Encryption and then finished a half length second to Seabrook in the Group 1 Moet and Chandon Champagne Stakes 1600m. He was also placed in the Wyong Magic Millions 2yo.

Bondi was placed in each of his four starts at three years including an unlucky nose second to Boomsara in the $2M Magic Millions Guineas 1400m when protesting against the winner.

His final start in February saw him run a brave third to Champion 3YO The Autumn Sun in the Group II Hobartville Stakes 1400m at Rosehill in which he sustained a career ending tendon injury. He finished his career with earnings of $648,000 in stakes from his 12 race track appearances.

Bondi is bred on the same cross as Trapeze Artist and Estijaab each being by Snitzel from granddaughters of Red Ransom, as his dam Bondi Blonde is a daughter of the illustrious sire and now highly successful dam sire.

Bondi's physical attributes and natural speed as evidenced by his sensational racetrack times gives WA Breeders an outstanding opportunity to access a quality sire at the modest fee of $6,600 inc GST.
