Talented Squamosa sprinter, Order Of Command, has continued his terrific run this season with an emphatic victory over 1200 metres at Caulfield on Saturday.
The Danny O'Brien Racing trained four-year-old is from Squamosa's first crop and he is proving to be a serious galloper clocking up his third win in town, and fifth overall from just 14 starts.
However, Order of Command, who is raced as a family affair by breeders Bill Johnson and his son in law Steven Paino has had 11 top four finishes which include a close second to Group One winner Nature Strip in the Listed Creswick Stakes and a lip second behind stakes winner Brave Song over 1100 metres at Flemington.
"It's been so exciting, and we have enjoyed every one of his five wins. He certainly knows where the line is, and I feel like the best is still to come," Johnson said.
"He will be heading to the straight six at Saturday week at Flemington in a couple of weeks. It was always was a dream to win a race at Flemington for my son-in-law Steven, so having already claimed two, fingers crossed Order Of Command can get the hat trick."
From the family of Hong Kong's Champion Sprinter Sacred Kingdom, Order of Command is out of the Commands mare, Commanding Angel, giving him a four by three cross to the legendary Danehill.
Still coming through for the dam's page, is a full brother, the unraced two-year-old Order of Fury also with Danny O'Brien who he believes has plenty of promise, and a lovely full sister by Squamosa, foaled last November.
"Commanding Angel is our only mare and we have retired her from stud this year. She has done enough and will be looked after and spend her remaining days in the care of Heartford Thoroughbreds in Romsey. Christoph and Candice have been fabulous. They have had the mare now for over ten years, and have done a marvellous job." Johnson said.
"Racing Order Of Command is something we all can enjoy as a family, and we are happy just to get a maiden winner, so understandably, we are over the moon at the moment."
"We are looking forward to racing the two-year-old full brother with Danny O'Brien who has been wonderfully patient. Being now in our golden years, we probably won't breed again, but we will be happy to enjoy watching and cheering on the last of her progeny on the racetrack."
Sun Stud's Sales and Nominations manager, Phil Marshall reports that Squamosa currently boasts over $2 million in earnings from less than 50 runners to the racetrack.
"The stallion is doing a terrific job from relatively low numbers, and we can't wait for his bigger books to kick in. He has 64% winners to runners, is the best-performed son of Not a Single Doubt standing at stud in Victoria, and is no doubt a sire with tremendous upside," Marshall said.
Not a Single Doubt sired Saturday's Group One South Australian Derby winner Qafila and Group Two Champagne Classic winner, Dubious, and with Not a Single Doubt asking a fee of $110,000 this season, Squamosa's fee for 2019 is $6,600.
